Rough patch for SHDHS boys basketball teams

STRATFORD – The South Huron District High School senior boys basketball team suffered a pair of narrow losses last week, dropping a 44-40 decision to Stratford Central and a 63-60 decision to Northwestern.

South Huron's Stephen Runhart led all scorers against Stratford Central, scoring 10 points.

Teammate Koedi Bryson had eight points, while Cody Brooks had four points and Yegor Kubrak, Bart Rynen and Grayson Homuth had two points apiece.

Kubrak posted 13 points against Northwestern, while Runhart added 12 points and Bryson had 10.

Homuth had nine points and Rynen had six points in the loss.

Northwestern player Cameron Watt led all scorers in the latter game with 17 points.
At press time, the seniors were sixth in the 10-team Huron-Perth league, six points behind first-place St. Mike's.

Junior boys

South Huron's junior boys struggled last week, losing 50-35 to Stratford Central and 52-39 to Northwestern.

Ryan Horn had two solid games for South Huron, scoring 18 points against Stratford Central and 10 against Northwestern.

Nathan Runhart and Brett McAllister had four points apiece against Stratford Central, and Matt Knight-Bedour had two points.

Nathan Runhart led all scorers against Northwestern with 16 points, while Cody Merner had five points and McAllister had four.

The juniors were in a three-way tie for eighth place in Huron-Perth standings at press time.

St. Mike's, Stratford Central and F.E. Madill were in a three-way tie for first place, while Northwestern was tied for fourth.

South Huron was set to face Central Huron Secondary School and St. Mike's Monday in Clinton as this week's Times-Advocate went to press.
